New Moon Released Today

If you all recall, a few months ago, I posted a picture of Stephanie Meyer's final installment in her so-called Twilight Saga, "Breaking Dawn." Yes, the series disappointed me so much with that last book. (If you're interested, please to go to my critique of the book )

However, in the series' defense, I will say this: I did like "New Moon." When the movie came out, I was excited because I quickly became a member of Team Jacob (absolute Twilight haters, please stop reading now). I was fascinated with how Jacob Black became a well developed character. Good job, Stephanie. HOWEVER, his role is destroyed when he becomes the Cullens' pet in "Breaking Dawn" (have I mentioned I hate this book?)

When I found out that New Moon was coming out, I quickly went out to get it today in the morning. I wasn't going to watch it but after eating some dinner, I decided to give the computer a break and pop this little baby into the dvd player. I started laughing with the hilarious scene when Edward is telling Bella that he's leaving her.

Bella: Edward, I'm coming.
Edward: I don't want you to come.

Yes, so I have a childish gutter-mind, but I just couldn't help but laugh, just like I did in the theatre when I first heard those lines. Aside from the silly faces Edward and Bella made because they can't have a normal kiss (you know, he craves her blood and if he tastes her spit, he'll only want to kill her. Or something like that), and the fabulous Jacob Black becoming a man ('cause you know, you has muscles and whatnot), something really struck at me about the movie. I didn't like the movie simply because it had Jacob in it, or beautiful giant wolves (which were amazingly made. You can tell how they're feeling with their reactions. Amazing!), I loved the music.

The New Moon soundtrack is a carnival of indie musicians and melodies. Some are about to hit mainstream, some are mainstream but they try to "keep it real" by playing to the underground crowd. Some I had never heard of before and now I own several other of their songs, such as Anya Marina and Sea Wolf and Lykke Li. Of course, there's Muse, who is one of Meyer's inspirations for her novels. I'll give her that much: the woman has good taste in music. And now, because of Meyer and Twilight, Muse is getting the recognition they deserve. No, no, don't get me wrong, it isn't simply because of her, but there are more people listening to Muse because of her.  Did I mention The Killers yet? Yup, they are on the cd. The Twilight cd had Paramore as their headlining band, but this cd is overall amazing.

As an added bonus, I found that on the spanish version of New Moon, there is an artist named Ximena SariƱana, who sings "Frente al Mar." It fits perfectly with the rest of the cd and music for the movie.
Give it a try below.

Overall, I'm happy with New Moon the movie. The music really made it a good movie. The acting was so-so. I hope Taylor Lautner is able to carry the strong Jacob feel throughout the remainder of the movies, even though Breaking Dawn (grumble, grumble) will make him less than what he really is.

And so that's it, cookie! Enjoy the movie and I hope you find the soundtrack as incredible as I did! Until later!
